Our Team
The Human Capital Group service is spearheaded by Brian Wasmüth, Gavin Griffin, Bernice Smit, Mpho Hlahla and Bongani Mncwango.

Brian is the founding partner and managing director of The Human Capital Group. Brian has extensive experience as a senior and top executive in commerce and industry. His extensive consulting portfolio includes organization and management consulting, strategy, leadership, executive search, executive coaching and general business consulting. He holds an Honors degree in the Social Sciences, an Honors degree in Business Administration and an MBA.

Gavin, a partner and executive director of The Human Capital Group is a chartered accountant, CA(SA), by profession and holds a B.Com, B.Com (Honors) in Accounting and a CTA. Gavin is a business consultant who specializes in financial strategy oriented assignments. He is an experienced executive who has held senior and top level executive positions in commerce. Gavin also has in depth experience and know how in the healthcare insurance and administration, and service industry in South Africa. Gavin’s executive search and placement focus relates to the insurance, assurance, banking, healthcare administration, information technology and financial services industry.

Bernice, a partner and executive director of The Human Capital Group, has a B.Com degree as well as a BA Honors degree. She is a seasoned human capital practitioner who understands practical hands-on human capital management and administration in the corporate environment. Bernice is therefore well versed in providing human capital solutions across a broad front encompassing strategic as well as operational human capital issues.

Imani has a long history in the financial services industry with extensive executive experience in its corporate support functions, i.e. strategy, human resources, communication and stakeholder relations, governance, research and development, information technology and finance. She was the first woman and first African on the executive committee in the office of the Auditor-General. Here, she championed the use of strategic and performance management processes while enterprise-wide risk management was developed as a key management and reporting tool. Her passion has been the coupling of corporate entrepreneurship and good governance for the success of business transformation. Imani has a bachelor degree in Economics and has does post graduate studies in Economics. She is completing her MBA.

Tlhoriso is a registered psychologist with a master’s degree in psychology. She is also a qualified psychometric assessor, having spent two years managing an assessment centre responsible for assessing, interpreting, reporting and quality assuring the work for +/- 2 000 persons per year. As a change manager, she has been responsible to conduct training needs analysis, facilitate skill development plans and then, as an human resource planning specialist she has provided aggregated results for organisational development plans and other strategic interventions.
A team of associate professionals assist The Human Capital Group Team in respect of specialist services (example psychometric assessments) required during the search exercise.
